What are we aiming to do?

We are aiming to build a series of experiments to halve the cost of social care with multi-generational living.

The Village Project looks to create a model for rapidly deployable low costs villages that radically improve quality of life and wellbeing indicators for all age groups.

Most western states are dealing with a demographic time bomb of ageing populations with high chronic disease loads. The model of health and social care is unsustainable and needs to be reimagined from first principles.

The financial objective would be to build an income stream or (Universal Village Income) in order to seed a village in a small island state that will start housing families and individuals with complex needs to get sustainably to Dunbar’s Number scale (100 to 150 people) in order to look to experiment with ways of collaborating with co-living that can reduce some of the core costs of multigenerational living and social care.

The objective is also to develop the tools, skills, resources and governance to make closer collaboration of people with complex needs possible without the need for traditional state intervention.

The ultimate aim is for the first village to become financially self-sustaining and then for funding to go into building future villages.

Open questions for this are:

What opportunities could we open up if we could take down the fences between us?

What skills would be need to own less and share more?

How could a village collaborate to earn the income it needed to thrive?

What social and economic value could a Universal Village Income unlock?

How could people collaborate more in the space of contributing their gifts?
